Dublin

Dublin is a very "walkable" city BUT it is not easy rolling heavy suitcases over cobblestones to get to the Car Rental office!

Famous for its Georgian doors - here is a selection.

I liked the boot scrapers too!

Entrance to some government offices.

Some doors are more ornate than others!

This is the house where the Duke of Wellington was born.

O'Connell Bridge - at the start of O'Connell St.

Tuppenny Bridge

........and from the other side.

The Oscar Wilde statue in St Stephen's Green.

The statue in context.

James Joyce also immortalised just off O'Connell St.

Dublin Castle.

Trinity College.

And the library entrance to the Book of Kells. That was one impressive display. Well worth the entrance fee.

O'Connell St with the "needle" in the background. Naturally the sculpture is a bit controversial. It supposedly has some symbolism regarding modern ingenuity or reaching for the stars or something....

The O'Connell monument.

Michael and a typical Irish Pub. Unfortunately we never got to a pub that had an Irish balladeer.

The Irish Parliament building.

Traditionally this is the site of the well where St Patrick baptised many of the local inhabitants in the fifth century. It is in the grounds of St Patrick's Cathedral.

The grounds of the cathedral.

A busking harpist.

Another busker beside the statue of "sweet Molly Malone".
